Five Years

We saw this in Las Vegas last year and it made me think of my parents. They were founders of the Red Bench Gang. Two red benches sat in their side yard, and in the summer every evening after dinner, the neighbors would gather at the red benches and solve the problems of the world.

Five years ago I said goodbye to my Dad. I remember that moment as if it had happened yesterday, and yet it also seems like a lifetime ago. I recently came across a blog entry that was written by the son of some very good friends and neighbors of my parents. I'm sure I read this five years ago but with everything that was going on, I had forgotten about it.

It's nice to see your parents through the eyes of others - especially someone younger than myself. Thank you, Pat, for remembering my Dad in such a nice way.

Here is that blog entry if you have time to read it!

Support Handmade!

Are you familiar with Etsy? If not, then you need to check there first this year for any gifts you will be purchasing!

Supporting a community of handmade artists will guarantee that you give unique, one-of-a-kind items. There are over 30 categories to choose from, and I wanted to share with you my latest purchase.

This goodie is from scrappeeCreations. The gal behind this adorable needle holder is a Mom whose blog I read. She has her hands full with four adorable children (twin sons and two older daughters), but in her spare time she creates items for her Etsy shop.

I just love this needle holder - it folds up into a cute package when not in use, and I can now find my needles quickly.

Be sure to stop by her shop and buy one for yourself or a friend!

File This Under Strange!

The cats did better in the Christmas card count than we did this year. A few cards always arrive late, and this one is a real doozy!

It is from a law firm in Pennsylvania. I have no idea who they are or how we got on their Christmas card mailing list.

Isn't this the weirdest holiday card from a business that you've ever seen? I find it very creepy!
