The weather here has been wonderful with lots of sun and beautiful skies. I had lunch in our backyard yesterday, and glanced up to see a big lizard on the rock formation by our pool.
If you click on the picture to see it full sized, you'll realize that this gal needs to start using sunscreen and lotion! She already has very wrinkled skin, and summer isn't here yet!
From looking at other photos of lizards, I determined this is a female Chuckwalla. You can see a photo of one here to compare them. It says that the females are gray-brown with faint mottling or crossbars and often have faint gray bands on the tail. The common Chuckwalla is a rock crevice-dweller often seen sunning themselves on boulders and rock piles.
