When my Mom passed away, I decided to keep this jewelry cabinet that she had. I really didn't like it, but it holds a lot of jewelry.
The top opens and there is a mirror and more storage. It has a cherry finish that is disgusting. For some reason, it won't clean up, and as you can see in the second photo, there were white smudges all over it.
I also don't care for the gold drawer pulls, and don't even get me started on that gross pink felt that lines all the drawers and side cabinets!
There are about a thousand tiny screws that hold all this together. After two weeks of removing all the pink felt, sanding, painting, and getting it all back together, here is what it looks like now!
I used the leftover paint from the end table painting project. It is a soft metallic copper color. I spray painted the gold a gun metal gray.
Because I could not completely remove the paper that the felt was attached to, I decided to cover it in scrapbook paper. Then I bought drawer liner that you use in your kitchen - the rubbery type stuff - and put it in the bottom of each drawer. The jewelry stays in place!
I used fabric as a backing on the two side cabinets.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out!
