Happy Memorial Day!

Ted is visiting his Mom this weekend, and he will be back today - bringing her for a week's visit. He sent me these pictures. They visited his Dad's grave. All the veterans had flags at their gravesites.

His Dad was a Marine in WWII, and fought on Iwo Jima. Ted's interest in all things involving WWII came from the many stories his Dad shared with him regarding his experiences.

In his hometown, they recently dedicated this statue to all the men and women wounded in all our wars. Ted's Dad received a purple heart for being injured in the war. Near the statue are bricks that could be purchased and engraved. There is one with Ted's Dad's name.

Not only was his Dad in the military - so was his grandfather, and three uncles. A big salute to all the men and women who have kept, and still keep, our country safe!

Happy Memorial Day!

Lucky Number 24

Why is today a lucky day?

Because 24 years ago, I married the best guy on the planet!

Happy Anniversary, Ted! Love you forever!

These are a few pictures from our Arizona vacation - more to come later in the week. The top picture is from Saguaro National Park in Tucson, and the bottom two are at Natural Bridge in Payson, Arizona.

*24 also happens to be Ted's favorite TV show - the series' finale is tonight*

Watch Out High School!

Last night marked the end of Sarah's 8th grade! Here she is receiving her diploma.

Big sister is all smiles!

Her aunt and uncle came in from Ohio to share in the celebration!

Watch out Notre Dame . . . . . . . here she comes!

We had a wonderful celebratory dinner after the ceremony!

One Smart Chick!

Yesterday we attended Sarah's awards ceremony and the luncheon that followed.

She is a straight A student, was president of the student council, an alter server, and she got some awesome awards!

Her parents are grandparents are very proud of her!

And so are we! Congratulations, Sarah!

Jumping for Joy!

Why are these girls so excited? They are graduating from 8th grade tomorrow night! One of these cuties is the daughter of a good friend we are visiting while in Arizona. We're attending the awards ceremony this morning with a lunch following the event, and then tomorrow night is the graduation ceremony.

Congratulations Sarah!

Cuckoo for Cocos!

The Red Hots tried a new restaurant last night!

The food was good, and we had a room all to ourselves, so it felt like a private party!

Hmmm, which Red Hots are not ready to give up the winter shoes? And now a game. Look at the following two pictures - what is different? I'll give you 10 seconds!

Thanks to a smart thinking Florida Red Hot, her foot was texted just in time for the picture!

I'll be taking a vacation out west starting tomorrow! Hopefully, I'll have a few spare minutes each day to show you some of the reasons why we love Arizona so much!

What Luck!

Last night my hubby was cutting grass, and he asked me to pick up a bunch of sticks that had blown out of the trees.

While I was doing that, I found a four leaf clover, and also another five leaf clover! It is so rare to find a five leaf clover - like this one below that I used for Speechless Sunday - but to find two of them is really unique!

I brought them in the house and placed them under two candle jars on my kitchen island. Newman jumped on the counter to see what I was doing, and I made him get down.

I went back outside, thinking that after the clovers flattened, I would take pictures of them. When I came back in, I noticed one of the candle jars was pushed off the runner that was in the middle of the island.

I picked it up, and no five leaf clover in sight! Not on the floor . . . . . . probably in Newman's belly! I looked under the other jar and the four leaf clover was still there. I went upstairs to get something and about ten minutes later when I came back down, the other candle jar had been moved.

I picked it up, and no four leaf clover in sight! Not on the floor . . . . . . probably in Newman's belly!

That little stinker . . . . . . .

Beware!

Have you ever had someone take a picture of you, and then later you realize you should have looked to see what was behind you before it was taken?

I went to MSNBC's site today to see what is happening in the world, and this picture cracked me up!

Happy Tuesday!

Pomp and Circumstance!

Saturday was graduation day for the University of Louisville. The student with Ted is Ben. He is one of Ted's student assistants who works on various projects for local non-profits in the Louisville area.

I'm so proud of my hubby because he attends every graduation - both the large graduation for the entire school and the smaller program that follows for the College of Business. It means spending an entire Saturday at these events, but he feels a commitment to the graduates! It's unfortunate that not all faculty feel this way.

I also wanted to show this picture because I have to iron that bad boy of a robe twice a year. The hood that goes down the back is really beautiful - red and blue velvet which represents the school where he got his Ph.D. - the University of Arizona.

Congratulations, Ben, and all the graduates in the Computer Information Systems department!

And the Rain Comes a Tumblin' Down

The weather this time of year is so unpredictable, and I always hate it when it rains for the Kentucky Derby. It rained most of Sunday too, and you can almost hear the grass growing!

Here is my first rosebud of the season.

I'm glad I didn't dig up this flowering plant last fall. I thought it was an annual, but it came back. I don't remember what kind of plant it is, but I'll take anything that blooms!

As I was talking to my neighbor today, I spotted the first turtle of spring. It must take him twice as long to get where he is going when the grass is thick and long!

Have a great week!
