Crochet One, Walk Two . . . . .

I don't spend the entire day cleaning out litter boxes - although sometimes it feels that way! Keeping up three blogs and an Etsy shop eats up a big chunk of my time. And now that I'm going to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, I've added training to my week!

So, here is a little preview of what eats up the hours in my day:

Getting ready for St. Patrick's Day in my Etsy shop. I know it's only February, but those Catster pals need to get their March photos taken, so I'm ready with some leprechaun love!

These special crocheted Calvin Collars look so adorable on our Catster pals. Check out The Cat in the Clover blog to see how pawsomely (yeah, it's a word) they model their collars!

Not everything in my Etsy shop is for cats. I've also added some items to help me reach my goal for the 3-Day walk in November. There are wristlet key fobs and cotton scrubbies that make great little gifts to keep on hand.

And there is even a Calvin Collar for the Cure! All the proceeds from these items go toward my goal in the walk.

You can check out my walking/training progress at my Laura Treks blog. Feel free to follow my aches and pains!

And you can check out my fundraising progress over at my donation page. I am thrilled beyond words that I've already reached 30% of my goal!

Have a great weekend . . . . . . I'll be mall walking . . . . . .

The Eye Has It!

A couple of weeks ago, while taking a shower, I was cleaning the shower. It seems to be an easier job that way. I felt a little sting in my eye and realized some of the tub cleaner must have splashed in my eye.

And then this showed up, and it hasn't gone away - no, not the bathroom lights you see shining in the brown of my eye - that little blurp at the end of the arrow! So yesterday, I went to an eye doc.

Apparently, it is a type of scar tissue that people can get from too much sunlight. Well, I know sunlight didn't cause this because one look outside will tell you that! I have steroid drops for a couple of weeks to see if it helps.

Then I go back to see the eye doc in a couple of months. I told him anytime I've been to get my eyes examined and the dialating drops go in, I come thisclose to passing out - every single time! So, you can imagine how much I love going to an eye doctor! Luckily, no dialating drops yesterday, but I may be passing out in April!

My best advice from this situation . . . . . . get someone else to clean the shower!

Riddle Me This!

What's that bright object in the sky today?

It's casting shadows!

Oh my cats, I think it's the sun! Thanks to that wonderfully warm sun, Ted and I got a 3 mile walk! I hope the sun is shining in your neighborhood!

The Great Retreat!

The interesting part about having so much snow in the yard is checking out all the prints and trying to figure out to whom they belong!

The prints from this Speechless Sunday post were definitely deer. And I've seen squirrel prints in the backyard.

But check out this interesting array of marks. I know it isn't from the neighbor's two cats that I feed on my front porch. And our next door neighbor has a weenie dog that doesn't wander very far from his front door.

It can only be one thing . . . . . . . . . the SNOW BUGS are leaving! They got one whiff of the bug man that was here Monday, and they're headin' for the hills!

Are You Kidding Me?

Winter storm warning . . . . . . 5 - 7 inches of additional snow . . . . . . 24 degrees . . . . . feels like 10 degrees . . . . . . ice covered slick roads . . . . . . and . . . . . . . .

WHAT?
Well, was I glad to see our bug guy here today because you know how the bugs are swarming in weather like this! We don't have an inside bug guy . . . . our bug guy is just for the outside!

Yeah, it makes sense to you now, doesn't it?

I'm glad we're protected against bugs for when we go out to spend a couple of hours shoveling the driveway!

I'd hate to be attacked by killer snowbugs!

The Way to a Man's Heart . . . . . .

. . . . . is usually not flowers, so I whipped up these yummy Oreo Cakesters today. Let me tell you, an Oreo cookie does absolutely nothing for me - they are the last on my list of favorite cookies, but these delish double whammys will have you coming back for more!

Head over to One More Moore for the recipe and a way to fancy up the tops of these for Valentine's Day. I cut the recipe in half - you'd need a good crowd to make the recipe she has shown.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!

My love is like a red, red rose . . . .

Oh, how I heart flowers! I'll take flowers over candy any day!

These beauties were delivered yesterday and are from my Valentine! Which do you prefer - flowers or candy?

Happy Valentine's weekend!

What Cats Do Best!

Well, napping is number one on their list, but the next best thing is watching the birds! I have cat food on the front porch for a couple of visitors, and yesterday I discovered the birds were eating it! How ironic is that - birds eating cat food!

This is look-alike Gleek and Violet wishing they could go out to meet the birds up close and personal!

And I think the birdies that have been showing up are starlings - is that what they look like to you? You can click on the picture to enlarge it. They have a lot of speckled dots on them.

The snow is off the streets, but it is going to take awhile before it melts off the yard. I really feel for the people in the DC/Virginia area. Ugh!

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler

Beads . . . . . .Bingo . . . . .Babies . . . . . .it was a Red Hot Mardi Gras at Mylinda's house tonight! We enjoyed some Cajun food, and the Kentucky version of a King Cake! And of course, when Mylinda is the hostess, bingo is the game! It was a small group tonight, so we were all winners after five rounds of bingo!

We were given mask kits in January which needed to be assembled and brought to the get-together. There were even a couple of absentee masks sent in via email from our Red Hot Florida gal, and our Recovering From Surgery Red Hot. Peggy won the most votes for best mask (front right below).

These babies didn't want to hide in the cake!

Let the good times roll . . . . . . . .

Blame it on Phil!

Just when you're thankful that you dodged Mother Nature's big snowstorm that hit up north, she decides to play a trick and let you know who is in charge!

It's a really wet snow this go around, and the kids are happy that there is no school. Even this big kid is glad the University is closed too!

It is beautiful, but I'm done with snow for this year!

What a Hoot!

Today was a baby shower for a Red Hots' daughter. It was an owl themed party with lots of cute decorations and games that involved smelling diapers filled with melted candy bars! Candy will never look the same again!

This is mom-to-be Kristin opening one of the gifts from the Red Hots. She had a helpful curly haired assistant!

There was lots of yummy food, and these adorable owl cupcakes!

I think Kristin's sister made this diaper cake - too cute!

And do you remember this baby shower? Well, this is the baby that arrived a couple of months ago! She will be a cousin to Kristin's baby! She smiled at me when I asked her if she wanted to be on my blog! She was either pleased about the idea, or it was gas . . . . . I'm going to go with the pleased about the idea choice!

Grandma Barb will have lots of fun with these two new babies!

Not Exactly A Groundhog!

What does it mean if a llama sees his shadow?

This cute guy and his brother, or maybe it's his sister, live down the road and around the bend. I wonder if they spit at people like camels do? Okay, in case you want to know, I just read that if they are reared correctly, they will not spit at humans. But they will spit at each other occasionally.

Sounds like kids to me . . . . . . . .

So Annoying!

In my quest to become a saint, I've had to be on hold several times the past few days. It definitely ranks right up there on the list of annoying not-in-your-control things. The music that is played is annoying too, and then when you think someone is about to talk to you, it is the guy who is telling you how important your call is, and all representatives are still busy!

On Saturday, we got a Notice of Levy on my parents' 2007 tax return. Ted was going to check into it. He was on hold for over 20 minutes, and then they couldn't help him because he isn't the Executor on the account.

So, it was my turn. After being on hold for over a half an hour, I found out that over 6 notices were sent out last year. Hmmmm, wonder why we didn't get it? Because they sent it to their old house . . . . . the house that was sold in 2008 . . . . . where mail is no longer being forwarded.

But, then last month we got something from the IRS wanting to verify if my address was the correct address for my parents. If they knew my address last month, why didn't they bother to check that over a year ago when they started sending out these notices? Put that on my list of annoying things too!

What is on your annoying list? If being on hold isn't one of them, go ahead and add it. Trust me on this one!
