What Cats Do Best!

Well, napping is number one on their list, but the next best thing is watching the birds! I have cat food on the front porch for a couple of visitors, and yesterday I discovered the birds were eating it! How ironic is that - birds eating cat food!

This is look-alike Gleek and Violet wishing they could go out to meet the birds up close and personal!

And I think the birdies that have been showing up are starlings - is that what they look like to you? You can click on the picture to enlarge it. They have a lot of speckled dots on them.

The snow is off the streets, but it is going to take awhile before it melts off the yard. I really feel for the people in the DC/Virginia area. Ugh!

They are so cute watching out the window. My Midnight has been diligently watching all the birds at the feeders.

I don't know what that little birdie is but it is beautiful! It has been snowing here all day. We are supposed to get between 4 and 8 inches. I DEFINITELY feel for those people that are getting feet of snow!

i think they are starlings...which are known to be very aggressive eaters, often pushing away the natural habitat birds...

they (this particular type) if correct, arrived from Europe they say...

we all types of feeders out for the birds and deer feed too!

i love the shot of the Cats :)

That is an adorable picture of the boys! I sure wish Calvin were standing right there with them : (

Yes, it's a European Starling, and they will eat about anything. They are the most invasive bird we have right now in the United States even though measures are being taken to try to reduce their numbers. It doesn't help when they take over other birds nests or lay eggs for other birds to raise.

That said, it is awfully cute with all those speckles!

My older daughter (that lives near D.C.) says the cats are watching "birdie TV".

Yep, that's a nasty starling but they need to eat too.

I don't know much about birds, but I'd guess you're probably right.
