Not Quite What I Expected!

Whenever I go into my kitchen, I find myself looking into the backyard to see what's going on. Today I spotted the neighbor's white cat sleeping on our woodpile. It was drizzling out, and he could take a nap there without getting wet.

Later in the afternoon, I peered out and sure didn't expect to see a rafter of turkeys. I didn't know it was a rafter until I looked it up - it just looked like a whole bunch of big fat turkeys to me!

One of them was even inside the fenced area! I ran to get the camera, and tried to quietly go out on the deck, but they must have good hearing because the minute I started to take the picture, they ran into the woods! If you click on the picture, you can barely make out a couple of the birds!

We've seen turkeys before in our yard but not this early into fall. Did you see anything interesting in your backyard today?

Born to Dance!

Tonight is the new season of Dancing With The Stars. The Red Hots have a pool each season, and this time I drew this guy. I know, you're saying, who is that? It's Ashley Hamilton, George's son. His partner is Edyta Sliwinska - the gal with the skimpy outfits!

I'll really be cheering this guy on! Donny's partner is Kym Johnson - the gal with the skimpy outfits!
Since there are more pairs dancing than Red Hots, we have a chance at a second pick. Donny is the last in that list, so if Ashley gets booted off seventh, I'll get Donny! A girl can dream . . . . . .

Calvin

While I was in Florida, my Calvin boy had to make a visit to the vet because he was very lethargic and not eating. His bloodwork indicated a high white blood cell count meaning an infection was somewhere in his body. His phosphorus was also high, and my hubby was given the task of giving him liquid meds a couple of times a day. The only thing worse than trying to give a cat a pill is giving a cat liquid medicine!

He went back for a recheck on his blood, and the white cell count was even higher. An ultrasound was done and we found out that he has lymphoma - cancer around his stomach. All of the cancers to get, lymphoma is somewhat treatable, although not cureable.

He was also very dehydrated, and after spending a couple of days getting IV fluids, antibiotics, and starting him on chemo medicine, he is eating again! His blue badge of courage is now off his leg, and it looks like he is wearing Ugg boots!

All of my animals have some of my heart, but Calvin has the largest piece of it. He is the only thing I got from my aunt when she passed away, and he is one special boy. We will love on him for as long as he has left and will do what we can to make him comfortable until the time that he must journey to the Rainbow Bridge.

If you believe in prayer, please say one for him. Thank you to all our Catster friends for your love and support - you are the greatest!

They Call Him Flipper!

We've enjoyed sitting on the dock of the bay watching the dolphins! Five to seven were spotted today!

They are after the hundreds of mullet fish that swim in the area. We've had such a wonderful time visiting our Red Hot friend. Back home tomorrow!

Leaving On A Jet Plane!

Tomorrow, five Red Hots will board a plane to Florida . . . . . to meet up with two Red Hots who are already there. We're visiting Red Hot Mama's new home, and we can't wait for five days of fun in the sun with lots of laughter and stories!

I hope to post some pictures while I'm there for the three Red Hots who aren't able to go with us.

Watch out Destin, here we come!

Labor Day!

Cats have the right idea on what you should do to celebrate Labor Day!

If you're like Newman and you plan to spend the day chillaxin, get your favorite team logo shirt on and head over to Chick-Fil-A for a free chicken sandwich!

It might take a little labor to eat it, but it will be worth the effort! Have a fun holiday!

As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!

I thought I'd give an update on my front porch visitor. After taking her to the vet and shaving her belly, they discovered the spay scar! I was happy that this little girl will not be having kittens! She has had all her shots, and is ready for her new home!

I broke my #1 rule about giving her a name. She deserves to be called something other than little black kitty. Her eyes are a gorgeous green color. So, after finding out that Vivien Leigh had green eyes and loved cats, I've named her Vivien! My Mom would like that because Gone With The Wind was her favorite movie!

The vet guessed her age at 1 or 2 years old. She is very sweet, loves to sit in laps, and will make someone a wonderful pet! If you are in the Louisville, Kentucky area and would like to give her a home, please contact me!

School Days

You would think being an only child would mean I have a gazillion photos that my parents took while I was growing up. While looking through Mom's stash of pictures, I discovered that there were very few official school photos of me. Maybe it wasn't such a big deal back in the day.

I attended first and second grade at one elementary school, and third through sixth at a different school. This photo is either from first or second grade - I'm guessing the first day of school.

Knowing my mother, she took this picture because the cat was coming up the driveway. I just happened to be standing in the right place at the right time!
