HTML!

I've been known to dabble in Photoshop as evidenced by the CD covers I've used for Christmas gifts over the years.

However, I'm no computer geek. And today I figured out what HTML stands for:

How To Make Laura crazy!

I've been wanting to create backgrounds for my blogs similar to those at The Cutest Blog on the Block. However, I like my three column layout, and the HTML they give you goes in a gadget rather than in your main HTML area. And that means you change your blog template to Minima - which isn't three columns!

Plus, I didn't want to use their designs because I enjoy creating the banners and backgrounds. So, I've spent a couple of days using way too many brain cells trying to figure it all out. I discovered the best feature on Blogger is being able to Preview before you save it!

I hope you like my first attempt - I'm hoping to get better the more I play around with it! Have a fun weekend!

Giggling with Excitement!

Oooooh, how fun it was to get an email from Monkey Giggles telling me that I was one of her Yoplait winners! I enter lots of fun giveaways, and never expect to win, so this was a nice treat!

And I personally believe that you can never have enough tote bags!

Don't cry that you didn't win . . . . . . you can be giggling like a monkey too if she picks you to win her next giveaway!

Stop by her blog and enter to win a Fiber One Chewy Bar Spa Break Gift Basket! I'm sure luck won't hit me twice, but I'll give it a whirl!

Always a Fan!

Look what arrived yesterday! This is my small order from the second Girl Scout who came to the door. My twelve boxes from the little Brownie that lives across the street haven't been delivered yet! I know - can you believe I ordered twelve boxes - at $3.50 each?

I plan to give most of them away - my mother-in-law will get some, my mail lady who is so nice to bring packages to the front door - she needs a box, and who knows, I might even do a giveaway on my blog!

For those who aren't in the know when it comes to Girl Scout cookies - there are two companies who make all the cookies for all the Girl Scouts across the country. One company, Little Brownie Bakers, is located in Louisville!

After having been a volunteer at the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana for what seemed like a gazillion years, I did consulting work for the cookie company. They called me their theme runner! I worked with their marketing department to develop the cookie theme each year into fun activities for the girls and leaders, incentive prizes, and all that good stuff. It was the best job I've ever had!

Newman is a boy who knows the most pawsome cookie when he sniffs it! The Samoa cookie is definitely my favorite. We even named one of our cats after the cookie because she has a caramel spot above her eye.

The only box I've opened so far is one of the new cookies - Dulce de Leche. The jury is still out on whether I'm a fan. It has my fave ingredient - caramel, but it is a little too crunchy for me.

Which cookie is your favorite?

Not a Fan!

I've never liked it. I've maybe tried it once or twice, but just the thought of it makes me a little queasy!

The other kind is even worse. You check your email, and you see that there are 10 comments on your blog! Wowza, you can't wait to see who has been visiting and leaving you a little note.

And then you discover it's nothing but a spammer who wants you to click on links to purses, electronics, and other garbage!

So, I'm sorry to those who take the time to comment on my posts, but I had to turn the dreaded word verification back on.

One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch, Donny!

A Different Papa!

Who makes your favorite pizza? Louisville is the home of Papa John's, but we like another Papa better!

It's Papa Murphy's pizza - the take and bake pizza place! I don't know the name of this particular pizza, but it has chicken, artichoke, spinach and bacon. It has a nice thin, crispy crust. It usually comes with a white garlic sauce, but we get it with the traditional red pizza sauce.

And when you get it home, there is a coupon attached that will give you free cookie dough the next time you stop in. All you have to do is call and answer a quick survey about your recent purchase. Their chocolate chip cookies are yummy!

Sorry, Papa John!

Reality Bites!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love Survivor! I've watched from the very beginning of time - it has been on forever, and I get excited every year when that theme song starts. Last week I was at bunco, so I had to tape it and watch it later. But I enjoyed seeing it tonight.

There is an old gal from Louisville on the show this year. And I laugh when they called her old because she is 53! Unfortunately, she won't last long. But don't feel bad, Sandy, I wouldn't last one day. Well, maybe I'd try to hang around as long as possible so I could keep looking at this eye candy!

And my love of reality shows doesn't stop there. I'm a fan of The Amazing Race. There are two sisters from Louisville on the show this year. After seeing that bungee jump they had to do this past week, I don't think I'd survive that show either!

And, I admit it - I'm a fan of The Bachelor too. And those of you who have been watching it know that there is something very dramatic coming up at the finale. So shocking that they filmed it on a closed set.

If you want to know what the internet speculation is about the shocking ending, head over to Reality Steve's website and be ready to find out the jaw-dropping secret!

Reality television - they need to come up with another name for it because it's anything but real!

Not Just For Kids!

Right now at McDonald's, if you can stomach a kid's Happy Meal, you'll walk away with this honkin' cute Hello Kitty watch! There are eight in all, and if you're lucky, your McDonald's will sell them to you without having to eat eight Happy Meals!

This is the purple fairy watch. I can't imagine this on a kid's wrist because look how humongous it is on mine!

Not only does it tell the time of day, but it also tells you the date. Could it get any cuter? Well, yes, I think it can -the brown Chococat watch is screaming my name!

Won't it look lovely with my Valentine necklace?

Rats!

Have you ever found yourself saying, I don't give a rat's ass about something? Today, I gave a rat's ass about . . . . . . rats' asses!

Here is one big pile of rat butts!

They go on the backside of the Rat Pack - cat toys that I'll be selling in my Etsy shop!

They have to be called rats because they're bigger than mice, and Mice Pack doesn't make sense!

Newman tried out the prototype for me! He put his paw of approval on it but suggested a different tail. Do you recognize what the tail is made from? And these rats don't have ears because those would just get chewed off and swallowed and probably end up costing thousands of dollars at the vet's office!

Love, Love, Love!

Last night we went to the Louisville Ballet's performance of Cinderella. I was so excited because Cinderella was my favorite! The Cinderella I loved was the Rodgers and Hammerstein's television version starring Leslie Ann Warren and Stuart Damon. Back in the day, the show seemed so fantastic. Of course, when you watch it as an adult, you realize how cheesy it is - but cheesy is good!

The performance last night was spectacular. The sets were beautiful, and the dancing was magical. It was a perfect date to start the valentine weekend!

And then this morning, I got a beautiful necklace! And Ted got boxer shorts that say, Red Hot! Of course, he can't officially be a Red Hot, but he is red hot to me! And yes, I think the man should always spend more money on the present than the woman does!

And even better than that necklace was watching him as he helped me clean the house today. In my book, there is nothing hotter than a man that vacuums!

Happy Valentine's Day ~

That Bad Friday!

This woman was superstitious. She had selective superstitions! Of course, none of them involved cats. I've seen pictures of one of our cats sleeping in my dresser drawer when I was a baby. So, I know she didn't believe the one about a cat sucking the breath of a sleeping child. I would have been dead a long time ago!

She also believed that when you visited someone, you had to leave from the same door you entered. What is that all about?

And if a clock stopped, something bad was going to happen. Like the time she made my Dad cancel a business trip because the kitchen clock magically stopped ticking. It didn't matter that it stopped ticking because it needed to be wound!

I'm sure her twin had the same superstitions because after all, twins think alike - especially on silly stuff like throwing salt over your shoulder or having an itch means company is coming!

I wonder if I should be superstitious about my forehead showing in the picture. I don't think my forehead has seen the light of day in years. Could that have a deep meaning? Or is it that I hate my cowlick?

She wouldn't open an umbrella in the house. Who needs to anyway unless you're in my bedroom!

We had bunco last night at Donna's house. We had a sub. We told her she would win something because the subs always win. Yep, we were right. Add that to the superstitions list - Bunco subs always win a prize.

If you want to see some of the common superstitions, check out this list! Are there any that you believe?

I hope my palms itch today as I'm eating fish and avoiding smelling dandelions!

That's Just Peachy!

I'm not about to ruin my Valentine present to myself to get a picture of what this entry is all about, so enjoy my first pedicure of 2009 while I tell you my discovery today.

Rocky, our dog, was in the backyard and after the fun job of scooping rained upon poop, I decided to pick up some tree limbs and take them to our fire circle. You wouldn't believe the junk that has blown out of the trees from not only the ice storm, but the huge winds we had last night.

I glanced over to an area we call The Orchard and I couldn't believe what I saw! If you look at this post from last October, you'll remember that my crazy neighbor tied his homemade deer feeder to one of my peach trees.

There are two peach trees in our orchard. And now there is one huge mama of a tree laying across both of my precious peach trees! The tree that fell was in the neighbor's yard and it completely uprooted!

My orchard is ruined! No more peach pies . . . . no more peach preserves . . . . . . no more peach cobbler! Oh, sure, we've had those trees for ten years, and we have never gotten anything that resembled a peach or tasted like a peach from either of those trees, but it could have happened some day!

When my paint job has hardened, I'll get a picture of the ruined orchard for you. Be prepared to cry!

What a Doll!

There was paper . . . . . fabric . . . . . ribbon . . . . . flowers . . . . . feathers . . . . . pom poms . . . . glue, and a lot of other stuff for creating our altered art paperdolls! Seven of our ten Red Hots got together and this is what we created!

You didn't know that Julianne Hough was one of the Red Hots, did you? Doesn't Phyllis look adorable? She used a younger picture of herself.

Sharon, the second from the left, wasn't even there! Hmmmm, how did that happen?

Peggy looks super cute in her cupcake liner dress! Barb looks . . . . . fabulous! And I think Lorie is ready for Mardi Gras with all the feathers!

We played while the winds outside howled! We were hoping the roof wouldn't cave in, or the headlines in the morning paper would read:

Seven women found dead inside building. They appeared to be making paperdolls!

We had fun, and we missed you Doreen, Karen, and Sharon!

Red Hot Valentine Time!

Tomorrow night is our Red Hot get-together, and I'm the hostess this month. Our Florida Red Hot isn't going to be in town, but she sent some goodies for all of us. Look at her beautifully crafted envelopes filled with something special. Compare that to the bandana I filled with something and tied in a knot. She definitely wins the prize for better looking goodie bag!

After we eat, we are going to create altered art paperdolls - a type of collage craft.

Doreen created a unique dancing paperdoll and sent it with the goodies. You put her on a pencil and blow her skirt and she twirls like a ballerina. Seeing Doreen with flowing red hair cracked me up!

This is the pattern we all will be using to make our dolls. I hope everyone remembers to bring their own head - LOL!

I can't wait to see how they all turn out, and I'll be showing the finished dolls to you later in the week!

Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats!

When Ted was shoveling the driveway last week, big chunks of icy snow were breaking off. Look at this one piece - the state of Kentucky! How cool is that!

Samoa contemplating lunch!

Hey, Calvin, if we can get the window open, we'll send Newman out there to catch us a snack!

I think we could take him, Gleek!

It's going to be 60 degrees over the weekend! Hopefully this snow will be out of here until next year!
