How Do I Love Thee, Target . . . . .

. . . . . let me count the ways! Are you a Target fan? I'm sure you are, because how could you not be?

My living room sofa is old - it's in good shape, but I've had it for years. And I keep it covered with a sheet or a slipcover so my cat, Violet, doesn't shred it to pieces. Then when I have company, I can remove the slipcover and have a clean, unshred sofa.

Now, here is the problem. Have you seen slipcovers and what a lousy job they do to fit the non-standard size sofa you own? Take Exhibit A below. Just trying to figure out how it semi-fits on the sofa takes a Ph.D.

And of course, there are always tie thingies that you have no clue how they should tie! So this is how wonderful your sofa looks in case someone surprises you and stops by. Let's not even talk about how the fabric is pulled - not from the cat, but from the first washing. And I didn't show you the seams that split once washed. And to think I spent money on this!

Here is where Target comes in to save the day! You gotta love it when kids go back to college. Not because they're leaving the home (although I guess that would be a big bonus too), but because Target has the coolest college stuff, and they order way too much of it.

For example, look at this decorative tapestry. Now what college student is craving one of these? I didn't even know what it was, so I can guarantee you, a college kid isn't going to give this a second look. So, it ends up on sale!

And I'm talking cheap-o, worth the price even if you don't know what you're going to do with it!

This tapestry is one ginormous piece of fabric, all hemmed and ready to go. No ties to figure out - no arm rests sewn in - just fabric! Two safety pins on either end, and voila' - I'm in love! And the bonus for me? There were two different patterns, both in grey. My newly cleaned carpet is grey, and it is difficult to find slipcovers in colors that go with the carpet.

I bought both patterns so I can switch them out. I'm thinking I should now cover this with the ugly cream slipcover, so that I can whip it off and reveal this tapestry when friends surprise me with a visit!

Way Cool -- Looks Good. I would stock up for that price. You can't even buy a plastic drop cloth for that price. I can't wait to see the other pattern.

Newman! Peek-a-boo, I see you!

Darned it Laura, you are so thrifty it kills me. Maybe you could help my sofa? No, the only thing that would help mine is to throw it out the door! lol!

Ted will be impressed ; )

Doreen - the second pattern is the one you see still in the package in one of my pictures. It is the same pattern, just a lighter grey and a lighter background.

Mikki - okay, maybe 2 safety pins on each side, but that is all! The "fitting" consists of tucking into the cushions!
